Benefits

Among the benefits of working for UKAEA you will find:

  • Performance-linked bonus system;
  • Contributory pension scheme;
  • Personal training and development plan;
  • Flexible working arrangements;
  • Relocation support where necessary.

Rewarding performance

We'll reward you for delivering results. Pay progression is linked to annual performance reviews, recognising employees for their achievements over the year and providing an incentive for excellence. Bonuses are awarded based on company and team performance, and in recognition of exceptional individual contributions.

UKAEA pension scheme

Your pension will probably be your most important source of income when you retire. UKAEA has a well-established contributory final salary pension scheme. New employees are automatically entered into the scheme when they join the company, but can opt out if they wish.

Training and development

UKAEA is an Investor in People employer and encourages staff to develop their skills through both internal and external learning programmes.

We welcome new employees to the organisation through a planned induction programme. A personal development plan, reviewed annually, then ensures they receive the training they need to perform their role and fulfil their potential.

Where appropriate, training and development is linked to nationally recognised qualifications (eg NVQs) or professional bodies.

Staff are able to attend full-time and sandwich courses where the course is relevant to their work. Part-time study can also be undertaken through day release classes, evening classes or correspondence courses/Open University.

We provide support by paying for:

  • Registration, tuition, examination and student union fees;
  • Annual subscriptions for membership of professional bodies during the period of training;
  • Travel and subsistence costs.

Flexible working

UKAEA believes in providing flexible working arrangements for people who have commitments which mean they cannot work standard hours. For example, when employees want to carry on working while bringing up their families, or to return to work after a break of a few years. Options we offer can include:

  • Part-time working and job-sharing;
  • Homeworking;
  • Career breaks.

Relocation support

Working for UKAEA may require you to move to a new area and when taking up a new position, we can help by providing financial assistance for your relocation.

Employee relations We place a high priority on good two-way communications with our employees.

As well as keeping staff up to date on developments within the company through regular briefings and the company Intranet, we encourage feedback and new ideas. Our Ideas Factory database enables employees to make suggestions directly to senior management, identify problems and share best practice within the company.

Formal channels include joint consultative arrangements with employee representatives and our five recognised Trade Unions.
