UKAEA contracts strategy
UKAEA's requirements span a vast range of goods and services associated with any complex business - from the core functions associated with operating its six sites to pens and paper. To support these requirements UKAEA uses a variety of contract strategies depending on the nature of the requirement, its complexity, the degree of innovation required and the maturity of the individual market and supply base. Examples of contract strategies currently in operation include simple supply and demand through to alliance arrangements.
UKAEA has a strong preference for firm priced contracts, although as the complexity of requirement increases UKAEA actively uses other pricing methods, including activity schedules and incentivisation. UKAEA was an early user of the NEC suite of conditions, and this remains its preferred terms and conditions; however, UKAEA retains and uses its own bespoke conditions and those associated with other specialist markets as the requirement demands.
