Freedom of Information policy
UKAEA is committed to being open and honest in the conduct of its operations, and to complying with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. We will be honest at all times. We will be open with the public and the media whenever possible, placing information into the public domain, and responding to all requests for information.
We make a wide range of information available to the public through this web site. Our Publication Scheme sets out the categories of information we publish, and provides more details of our approach to information provision.
If you have a specific information request or are looking for a publication not available on the UKAEA web site, please use the electronic form on our information request page. Your enquiry will be answered as soon as possible, and always within 20 working days.
There will be occasions when we will not be able to supply all the information requested. But these will only be in respect of information specifically exempted under the Act, in particular when we are constrained by considerations of:
- National security;
- Legal and contractual obligations;
- Our duty to keep sensitive information about individuals confidential.
We will always make clear on such occasions why information is withheld. Members of the public have the right to appeal to the Information Commissioner against such a decision.
